Ave Maria - Angelic Rendition
Friday, December 25, 2009 at 10:57AM Imagine: 1956. Rome buzzing with life. The side walk cafes intoxicate with the smell of freshly baked delights and coffee. An angelic voice cuts though it all with Italian folk melodies.
You turn around and see a 9 year old boy in clumsy second-hand clothes. His shoelaces broken and knotted. He hands a tray of Biscotti, Genetti and Amaretti to the owner and keeps singing.
You ask the owner about the little boy - he's a son of a baker who is ill; one of 8 kids, just helping out...
That's how the little boy gets "discovered" and in a few months his first album is recorded in Copenhagen and his voice proceeds to stir souls and lift the Spirit of many in Europe in the late 50s and early 60s - and I am so happy to have found him on YouTube.
Robertino Loretti was one of my favorite singers when I was growing up. This is how an Angel sings - in my book.
If you haven't been yet, my wish for you is to be discovered and share your gifts with all of us. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
