Two Spirit-Lifting Stories of Love Reunited After 50 Years

I knew a couple who had a strikingly similar story.
A remarkable lady, Nancy Dean, who passed away recently at a ripe age of 90+, told me that when she was 18 years old she fell in love with a smart young Catholic man who was studying to be a librarian. Their relationship was blooming and she told her parents that they wanted to get married once he graduates.
Her father asked Nancy: "Do you want to be pregnant and watch your husband read all the time?"
Her brother and the family played all sorts of tricks that lead her to believe that her sweetheart broke off their relationship.
The family rushed off to the Continent for a vacation... A few years later she got married to a good Protestant man, together they raised 4 children.
Forward 50 years. She is a widow. Active, involved. Goes to a fundraising party. Gets introduced to another active and involved widower - a retired Chief Librarian of the Library of Congress, Mister Dean.
Even if her father was around to intervene, a possibility of being "pregnant all the time" wouldn't scare Nancy that time around.
Mister and Misses Dean were the most delightful couple I knew. Here's a picture of both of them and myself in their house.

I am blessed to have known them and to have listened to their remarkable stories.
If you know of other similar stories, won't you share them here?
